David Marks and blues legend Smoke J Lawrence to rock Waves on December 16
The day begins at 10:00, with a host of local musos in the house, including the legendary David Marks who will be sharing some tunes and tales.
The Green Net is ending off 2024 with their first official fundraiser, a fabulous day of music and fun at the eco-friendly Waves venue in Umzumbe on Monday, December 16th (Day of Reconciliation).
The highlight of the day will be blues legend, Smoke J Lawrence with the Blues Train. His performance on the 16th will be part of a national album launch – his other gigs on the South Coast during December will be at Rocky Ridge and Douglas Mitchell – and is guaranteed to knock your socks off.
Smoke was born in Nqabeni – 55km from Port Shepstone.

Ten years ago, a fire destroyed his recycling business in Ravine Lane, Marburg and the family had to make some tough choices and relocate to Johannesburg. It is truly wonderful to be celebrating his return in this wonderful way.
Smoke is not only a great musician but with the creation of the The Smoke Train Blues Movement SA, where he invites local blues artists from countries where he’s performed to visit and acts as an ambassador – showing his passion for cultural exchange and respect for different traditions.
The day begins at 10:00, with a host of local musos in the house, including the legendary David Marks who will be sharing some tunes and tales.
The Smoke show will begin around 15:00.
