Uvongo beach and lagoon closed to swimming

Bathers are warned not to swim at Uvongo beach and lagoon.

Swimming and other recreational activities at Uvongo Beach and lagoon are currently prohibited due to high levels of E. coli detected in the water.
Ray Nkonyeni Municipality released a media statement yesterday (Sunday) after the South Coast Herald requested urgent feedback on the situation at the beach.
The municipality said they sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.
“We assure residents and visitors that updates will be provided as new developments arise. Your safety remains our top priority,” it said, in a statement.
