God is concerned about our well-being
The scriptures affirm that all things were created by God and were created good and to be received with thanksgiving.
Cast all your cares upon, for He cares for you. So writes the apostle Peter.
Today, we will seek to address some pertinent questions such as:
1. Can a Christian want things?
2. Is it unholy to desire the good things of life?
3. Is it possible to be prosperous yet Godly?
4. What is our Father’s disposition towards wealth and our well-being on earth?
To address these issues, we must realise that nothing on the earth of its own self or created by the devil.
The scriptures affirm that all things were created by God and were created good and to be received with thanksgiving.
Genesis 1:31 says ‘And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day’.
In Psalm 24:1 it says ‘The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein’.
Furthermore, a vital component that makes us humans is our will, that ability to make choices based on our individual needs or desires.
For believers, in as much as we actively exist on this earth, the scriptures equally acknowledge that we will have the same needs, wants and desires as unbelievers.
It even goes further to let us know that our heavenly Father knows that we have needs.
Matthew 6:32 says For after all these things do the Gentiles seek – for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
A Christian can want the good things of this life, and that is not unholy.
A Christian can be prosperous yet Godly, and he must never assume that poverty or wealth is an indication of piety but must at all times acknowledge that his heavenly Father cares for him and He is concerned about his well-being.
