Everraud breaks Zone IV record

It's been a busy time for this multi-talented sportsman.

Everraud Raynard set a new record in the boys 13-14 50m butterfly race at the Zone IV Championships held in Windhoek, Namibia late last year.

The former South Coaster clocked a time of 27:06 to break the existing record and secure the gold medal. Out of interest, the world record (men) is 21.67.

This was set by Swiss swimmer Noé Ponti at the 2024 Short Course World Championships on December 11.

Everraud (14) also won gold medals in the 100m butterfly race (1:01:53) and 200m butterfly (2:22:54).

He picked up a silver for the 100m breaststroke (1:16:46) and bronze for the 50 breaststroke (33:87), plus two golds for the relay events.

The Westville Boys’ High boy was then flown to East London to join the KZN U14 water polo team at the SA Champs.

His team produced a stellar performance to walk away the winners.

You’d think he’s now taking a break, but no, he’s competing in another swimming event – the KZN Premier Provincial Championships being held in Pietermaritzburg.
