Walking in Nature to kick-off in May

The Mzimkhulu Honorary Officers have some fabulous walks planned for the year.

The WIN Walking in Nature Shoreline Challenge kicks off in May this year.

The popular annual South Coast community event is organised by the Mzimkhulu Honorary Officers.

The challenge encourages everyone to explore and enjoy walking the coast’s beautiful coastline from Port Shepstone to Port Edward, along the beach, for most of the way.

You are also welcome to help clean the beaches and bring a bag or two to collect rubbish along the way.

Here are the dates: May 11 and 25, June 8 and 22, July 13 and 27, August 10 and 24 and September 24. They are all Sundays closest to the spring tide.

Young and old enjoyed last year’s series of walks.

Other exciting walks to diarise are the Valentine’s Walk to Samango Falls in Oribi Gorge on February 15, and an interesting vulture walk/talk will be held on March 15.

The walk to Samango Falls is about a 4km round trip to the falls, with a fairly steep incline on the ascent to the falls.

Further details will follow closer to time.
