The Ivungu River Conservancy recently opened up a new extension to the reserve trail.
It encompasses a gorgeous ‘glade’ surrounded by indigenous fig trees with river frontage.
The conservancy would love to make this space into a resting spot with benches – a place to slow down, ponder and absorb.
In fact, this splendid ‘forest seat’ idea was that of conservancy member, Paddy Norman.
So far, four full benches have been sponsored.
But, if anyone would like to donate and perhaps dedicate a bench to a loved one – they would to love hear from you.
Marke Meyer has kindly offered to collect them from the Durban supplier, so there are no transport costs and it’s at the wholesale price.
The conservancy’s chairperson, Bill Davis, said that they will be placing a simple concrete seat deep in the forest area soon for those who need a quiet spot – it will also be a good birding spot.
The next ‘walk and unwind’ is on Wednesday, May 28 at 16:00. Meet below the tennis courts off Edward Avenue. Everyone is welcome.
The Ivungu River Conservancy is a non-profit organisation that aims to preserve the environment of the Ivungu River and Uvongo area.
