Quick response saves Southport home

Quick-thinking community and rapid emergency response prevent serious damage in Southport house fire.

A house fire in Golf Road, Southport was quickly brought under control on Monday last week – thanks to the fast response of the community and emergency services.

The alarm was raised through a local community WhatsApp group, prompting Lazer 911 Rapid Response Units to rush to the scene.

Officer Dawid Enslin of Lazer 911 was the first to arrive and managed to put out the fire using a hosepipe.

Backup Lazer 911 units soon arrived to secure the area until the fire department confirmed the fire was fully extinguished and the property was safe.

Senior operations manager Robbie Pypers praised Enslin’s swift action and calm handling of the situation.

The quick-thinking resident who reported the fire was also commended for helping to prevent what could have been a much worse incident.
