Child Welfare Port Shepstone fundraises to feed families

The non-profit's monthly target is 15 food parcels.

Child Welfare Port Shepstone is raising funds to buy items for food parcels for families in need.

The non-profit held a fun run/walk at St Michaels Beach on Monday last week, to help raise more funds.

The event was well-supported by the public as well as Umbango Valley Association.

Umbango Valley residents support the worthy cause.

Child Welfare’s Monica Narainsamy said that their monthly target is 15 food parcels.

Other items urgently needed are for babies: nappies, formula, clothing, wipes and lotion.

Excited to finish the walk is Ubukho Boqwana.

“Our social workers identify the needs in each of their areas. We have young mothers who are always in need of formula, nappies, etc. We raise funds to provide these items while they are waiting for their grants to be approved.”

Heading to the finish line are Jason Govender (left) and Kreneshen Naidoo.

She added that they also need funds for transport, birth certificate reprints, police clearance and taxi fares.

Enjoying the fun walk are Dawood, Daelyn and Jaclyn Suliman.
Naqiyah Rawat (left) and Brendon Schutte are almost at the end.
