Potholes frustrate business owners in Marburg

The poor road conditions are impacting productivity, profitability and customer relationships in the Marburg industrial area.

Business owners are frustrated with a lack of road maintenance and the resultant problems caused by potholes in the Marburg industrial area.

The poor show from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) to carry out regular pothole repairs or resurfacing has led to increased repair costs, delivery delays, and potential safety concerns for businesses in the area.

It is also impacting productivity, profitability and customer relationships.

“Many have been complaining for years, but the municipality has turned a blind eye,” said businessman Sergie Naicker.

Wesley Andersen said the poor road conditions reflect poorly on their image and business operations.

“We have sent numerous letters to the municipality and they have failed to repair Oscar Nero Road for the past two years. One of the potholes stretches across the entire road and makes it difficult for motorists to get through. It becomes a one way lane at times and causes traffic build-up.” he said.

Comment was sought from RNM, but none was received at the time of going to press.
