Lieutenant Colonel Sanelisiwe Friedah Nkomo is the highest ranking woman officer at Umkomaas Saps who leads from the front.

This commissioned officer of substance executed duties at Msinsini Saps, Donnybrook Saps, Port Shepstone Saps, Margate Saps, KZN: Provincial Criminal Records Crime Scene Management and was later transferred on promotion to Umkomaas Saps as the Support Head forming part of the integral senior management echelon.

Initially, Nkomo was attested as an admin clerk in the Saps and continued to persevere and excel to her current rank.

“She is in leadership and plays a crucial role in driving innovation, fostering inclusive workplaces and in improving the fight against crime,” said Umkomaas Saps spokesperson, Captain Ranjith Rampersad.

“She follows the chain of command and navigates with ease in any task. She is a highly trained leader who never hesitates to enhance service delivery and Batho Pele within the Saps.”

Nkomo has a university qualification, police medals, has attended numerous courses in the Saps and has contributed immensely to the Best Station Award.

She is also a mother and inspires with her strength, talent and character.

This officer enjoys sports and is a professional athlete who is an ambassador of good health and service excellence.

She is also a trained HIV/Aids peer educator who from time to time assists members under her command and encourages Saps women to take up leadership roles at all levels.

“I am a woman of vision and ready for my next promotion. I believe the Lord will guide me accordingly,” she said.
