Shelly Centre celebrates heroines

The 'She Inspires' campaign was designed to uplift community voices, support young women in need, and unite customers around stories of strength, compassion, and leadership.

Shelly Centre celebrated Women’s Month with a heartfelt initiative that placed local heroines at the centre of the celebration last Saturday.

The ‘She Inspires’ campaign was designed to uplift community voices, support young women in need, and unite customers around stories of strength, compassion, and leadership.

“The campaign was a beautiful reminder of the strength and generosity within our community. We are proud to have celebrated these incredible women and to have given back in a meaningful way,” said centre manager Marie Sukkels.

Customers were invited to nominate inspirational women from the Shelly Beach area, from 24 to 31 July, whether a devoted mother, selfless sister, caregiver, or someone quietly making a difference.

Through the Shelly Centre Facebook page, nominations were shared, with customers tagging their nominees. An internal judging panel selected three women to share their stories at a live event.

Galasetseng Hadebe, BT King and Pranisha Bhooden were the chosen ones.

Attendees enjoyed special experiences including perfume layering, lipstick testing and mini massages. The event space was beautifully decorated.

The celebration concluded with light eats and refreshments, fostering connection and community spirit in true Shelly Centre style.

In alignment with the campaign’s mission to uplift women, the centre also ran a sanitary pad donation drive.

Customers were encouraged to drop off sanitary pads at the centre management office, with Shelly Centre matching all contributions received. These donations will help ensure that young women in the community have access to essential hygiene products.
