Merlewood model wins Mr Durban 2025
Lyle Fynn from Merlewood is ready to spread his message of self-acceptance and empowerment to the youth.
Lyle Fynn, a talented professional model and dancer, passionate about his craft and giving back to his community was crowned Mr Durban recently.
Taking a leap of faith, Lyle joined Mr and Miss Durban Beauty Pageant. Being his first pageant, it turned out to be an incredible journey.
“Winning Mr Durban was an honour, and I’m using this platform to spread a message of self-acceptance and empowerment. Not only did I win Mr Durban, but I also took home two other awards, Mr Personality 2025 and Rising Star 2025. A triple win that I’m truly grateful for. “
As Mr Durban 2025, Lyle plans to use his title as a platform for good. “I’m not just looking to be an influencer, but a reflection and mirror for the youth. To achieve this, I’ll be organising various charity events, drives and volunteering at kids’ homes, offering a helping hand wherever possible.”
When this 23-year-old from Merlewood is not strutting down the catwalk, he’s mentoring and inspiring others to pursue their passions in modelling and beauty pageants.
As a child, he was always energetic and fashion-forward, with a passion for playing with clothing and dancing.
Throughout his schooling years, he developed strong leadership skills. He’s a unique individual, with his own style and flair.
After matriculating from Port Shepstone Secondary, Lyle chased his dreams to Durban, pursuing a career in modelling and dancing. He joined KZN Top Models and started working on runways and dance projects. Although Covid-19 forced him to return home, he didn’t give up and continued pursuing his passion.
“Dancing and modelling are my outlets, my sources of inspiration and my safe havens. It encourages me, calms my mind and relaxes me. Honestly, they’ve been instrumental in helping me cope with depression and anxiety. Being able to express myself authentically through my passions is a blessing. I believe everyone deserves their own outlet, their own safe space, where they can be themselves without judgment. Whether it’s dance, art, music, or something else, having that creative expression can be truly life-changing,” he said.
He recently established the House of Love Modelling School to mentor and inspire others to pursue modelling and beauty pageants.
