Successful fundraiser for hockey players

Leah Scott and Amber Fourie will be leaving for the Netherlands on October 6 and returning on October 16.

The fundraiser for two hockey players, Leah Scott and Amber Fourie, held at the River Valley Farm and Nature Reserve in Margate on Sunday was a success.

This was according to the organiser, Sharyn Scott, who is also Leah’s mother.

People came out in numbers to support the initiative.

Scott said the two Southcity Christian School learners will be heading to the Netherlands as they have been selected for a hockey team.

They will be part of the Into Africa Sports, a prestigious international hockey tour to the Netherlands reserved for selected South African learners.

Scott said the girls will be leaving on October 6 and returning on October 16.

She said the fundraiser was well supported.

“It was a great day. The weather was beautiful. Everyone was able to do the nature walk. We had wonderful sponsors and attendees. There were many activities for the children, and the boerewors rolls were delicious. Leah and Amber enjoyed the day and were grateful for the support they received. We are also grateful to everyone who came to support the initiative,” he said.
