Hijacking suspect shot dead by police on N2 in Umgababa

He allegedly tried to escape arrest by pulling out a gun.

A hijacking suspect was shot dead in a clash with police and private security teams on the KZN South Coast.

A Toyota Quantum was taken from KwaNdengezi last night (Wednesday) and the information was circulated to law enforcement agencies.

Members from Saps Amanzimtoti, Saps Umkomaas, Saps Umzinto K9, ET Rapid Response TRT and Matrix/Beam-e Tracking spotted the minibus near the Shell Ultra City on the N2 in Umgababa.

The suspect allegedly tried to escape arrest by pulling out a gun, but was shot during a scuffle as police and security teams overpowered him.

A signal jammer and an unlicensed gun have been recovered, along with the stolen Quantum.
