CPF member arrested for drunk driving in Port Shepstone

The man will appear in court on Monday.

A member of the Community Policing Forum in Port Shepstone was arrested for drunk driving last night.

MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma said he received successful execution of a multi-disciplinary roadblock in Port Shepstone.

“Despite boasting about his high profile and his proximity to an unnamed Saps captain, a visible drunk member of the Community Policing Forum in Port Shepstone was arrested for drunk driving. Clearly, the Zero Tolerance and Alufakwa campaign was enforced last night until early this morning by our highly efficient, energetic and dedicated team from Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI).”

Duma heaped praises on the RTI team that worked with traffic officers from Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality and the Saps.

He added that he is aware that scores of motorists are being processed at Port Shepstone police station. “I have mandated the RTI team to be firm and arrest more motorists for drinking and driving in October – Transport Month. We will use these operations as a build up to the festive season.

The man will appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
