14 injured in truck and taxi crash on N2 near Ifafa
Nine patients sustained serious injuries and received advanced life support care before being transported to regional hospitals.
A heavy-duty truck and a taxi collided on the N2 near Ifafa today at about 11:30.
Emergency services confirmed that 14 people were injured – nine sustained serious injuries in what emergency responders described as a complex multi-casualty incident that required extensive medical resources and coordinated emergency response.
“The force of the collision between the commercial truck and the taxi created a chaotic scene that demanded immediate multi-agency intervention,” said Craig Botha of KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service.
The nine seriously injured patients received advanced life support interventions including trauma stabilisation protocols before being transported to regional hospital facilities for care.
The five patients with minor injuries were assessed, treated, and transported to medical facilities for further evaluation.

“Emergency medical personnel worked methodically through the challenging scene, providing critical pre-hospital emergency care to stabilise the seriously injured patients before initiating transport,” added Botha.
Police are investigating the matter.
KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service said motorists travelling on the N2 near Ifafa are advised to exercise caution while navigating the area as recovery operations and accident scene clean-up continue throughout the day.
“While no formal road closures have been implemented, drivers should anticipate possible delays and reduced traffic flow as emergency personnel, recovery teams, and investigation officers work to clear the collision site and gather evidence”
