Donations lift KwaMadlala woman who lost home in tragic fire
The contributions are a testament to the power of unity and the strength of community support.
Moments of gratitude and hope filled Nosihle Zangwa‘s face when she recently unboxed donations from the community.
The courageous single mother of three children suffered an unimaginable tragedy when her home in the foothills of the village of Magog, KwaMadlala (inland from Pumula), burnt to the ground.
Zangwa’s heart breaking story, which recently featured on the front page of the Herald, touched many hearts, and it’s been incredible how neighbours, organisations and officials have come together to support her.
Sergeant Thembeka Magubane from Southport Saps, who is also the gender-based violence helpdesk coordinator, said a heartfelt thanks goes to every member of the community who provided cash and donations to Zangwa and her children during this difficult time.
She extended gratitude to Thabile Hlophe (community safety and liaison representative) and Ntokozo Nombika (social worker) for their unwavering support and assistance.

“Your efforts in coordinating and delivering aid have brought much-needed comfort and stability to Zangwa during this challenging period.” Additionally, Magubane thanked officials from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Red Cross and the Department of Human Settlements, who visited Zangwa to provide further assistance and guidance.
“Your dedication to helping those in need is truly inspiring. This collective effort not only provides material relief, but also sends a powerful message of love, care and solidarity. Together, we have shown that no one has to face their struggles alone. As we reflect on the challenges faced, let us remember: ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the rain to pass but learning to dance in the rain’.” Magubane said this message reminds all to find strength in adversity and to continue working together to uplift those in need.
