Collision on N2 near Scottburgh leaves 8 dead, 2 critically injured

Five children were among the dead.

Emergency services responded to what is being described as a horrific accident scene last night on the N2, near the Scottburgh offramp.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue, a van with 10 occupants rear-ended a truck.

Eight occupants of the van were declared dead at the scene. This included five children, aged between four and five.

Two people were critically injured.

The critically injured patients were stabilised and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment under the care of an IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedic and EMRS.

IPSS Medical Rescue was assisted by Umdoni Fire Department, RTI, Gladiator Fire, EMRS and Saps.
