Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy hosts special talk on seashells in Port Edward

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife Honorary Officer, Debbie King, will be sharing her knowledge and passion for seashells at a special talk hosted by the Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy on Saturday, December 13 at 09:00.

It will be held at 592 8th Street in Port Edward, the event will offer residents, learners and nature enthusiasts an opportunity to learn more about the shells found along the coastline, how to identify them and the crucial role they play in the marine ecosystem.

Debbie, who is well-known for her decades of field experience and community environmental education, will guide attendees through a fascinating display of shells from local shores.

The focus of the morning is to create awareness around ethical shell collecting, coastal biodiversity and the impact of human activity on fragile marine habitats.

Entry is by donation, with all proceeds going toward the continued conservation work carried out by the Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy.
