Lights in the forest returns to Umtentweni

The event runs from Friday, December 19 to Friday, December 26, with gates opening at 18:30. Entry is R20 per person.

A festive tradition returns to Umtentweni this Christmas as the community-built ‘Lights in the Forest’ once again brightens the holidays.

Hosted by Living Word Hibiscus Church, the glowing walk-through has become a seasonal favourite – created entirely by local families and businesses.

The event runs from Friday, December 19 to Friday, December 26, with gates opening at 18:30. Entry is R20 per person.

Pastor Wilko Kunz said the forest has grown into a celebration of unity and creativity, with handcrafted displays lighting up the pathway each night.

Guests can bring blankets and camp chairs to enjoy the atmosphere. Food and refreshments – from popcorn and pancakes to boerewors rolls and coffee – will be on sale.

“Everyone is welcome,” said Wilko. “Walk the trail, experience the wonder, and be part of the light we share together.”
