Umkomaas detective ready for retirement

He served in the police for just over three decades.

Umkomaas Saps bids farewell to Detective Warrant Officer Vivian Mpumelelo Cele.

Cele served in the police for just over three decades.

He served under the stewardship of Detective Captain Maya Chetty as an investigating officer for 10 years investigating general crimes.

Described by his colleagues as an exceptional policer officer, he attained five medals and was capacitated by attending numerous courses in Saps.

“He is a dedicated and diplomatic, an impactful detective who is passionate about crime detection and the arrest of criminals,” said Umkomaas Saps spokesperson, Captain Ranjith Rampersad.

Cele stated that he is grateful for Saps’ teaching of discipline which groomed him to become a fine, smart detective.

“As a son of the soil, I have served with integrity at heart and without blemish,” he said.

Detective Commander, Lt Colonel John Ngema added by saying that Cele’s career was rewarding, and he always did his best in the investigation of cases.

“The Saps has been my second family who supported me with every step as I embarked on this journey,” said Cele.

“A special thank you to my family who made the ultimate sacrifice by releasing me to serve the people of South Africa. Also, Umkomaas police precinct’s unwavering love and support of my family will be reciprocated during my retirement.”

Captain Kreeba Govender said that Cele enjoyed the privilege of being a part of a winning team that achieved great successes where they could all be proud of Umkomaas Saps attaining first position in the province.

“I want to thank my officers and fellow detectives for imparting wisdom and knowledge that I now leave with my team. Though I retire at the end of this month, the memories we made will always be with me. I wish that each one of you will be happy and have a fulfilled career,” said Cele.

The Umkomaas Saps team praised Cele for his sterling efforts in the fight against crime.
