EFF in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality elects sub-regional leadership

According to EFF KZN secretary, Kate Buthelezi, the elected leadership will have a three-year term of office and report directly to the province.

The EFF in the Ray Nkonyeni sub-region elected a new leadership team at a conference at Umtentweni Town Hall recently.

They are: Xolani Nkasa – chairperson, Anelisa Gege – secretary and Nkosivumile Mdodana – treasurer, along with 15 additional members.

Previously, it operated with an interim leadership team after the disbandment of the regional leadership in December last year. The EFF National Assembly resolution was to disband all its regional structures and establish sub-regional structures.

Members tasked to lead the EFF in the Ray Nkonyeni sub-region.

According to EFF KZN secretary, Kate Buthelezi, the elected leadership will have a three-year term of office and report directly to the province.

“Previously we had a regional structure consisting of a top six and 15 additional members to serve all four sub-regions within it. However, at some point wards or voting districts did not get enough attention. The resolution was sub-regions composed of a top three and 15 additional members, which will be closer to the people.”

Buthelezi added that votes for the EFF dropped drastically in the previous national and provincial government elections, so a decision was taken to find out why. She said people responded and some said they assumed the EFF was dying.

She said it will be the first time the party will work without deputies, however, it did not mean tasks will be incomplete, as every member who is elected will have a duty to do.
