Explore lunar wisdom at moonology workshop in Melville

Garden Club Sowing Seeds of Love hosts the event on January 24, from 13:30 to 16:30.

Two enriching talks are set to take place at the Melville Sanctuary of Love in January – offering residents a chance to explore lunar wisdom and learn more about protecting pollinators and the natural world.

The first event – hosted by the Garden Club Sowing Seeds of Love – is a Moonology workshop on January 24, from 13:30 to 16:30, hosted at the sanctuary at 69 Beach Road, Melville. The workshop will be presented by Karen Read, who is visiting South Africa for a short time and has kindly offered to host a unique session that differs from the sanctuary’s usual astrology gatherings.

Moonology focuses on understanding and harnessing the power of the moon in everyday life. During the workshop, participants will each receive a personalised moon chart and learn how it works, explore rituals for new and full moons, understand lunar cycles and discover the importance of the moon within their individual charts. Tea and coffee will be served.

Marietjie Marais will give a talk on January 31.

The cost is R100, with bookings essential. Interested residents can contact Di Hayter on 081 0492435 to secure a place.

The second event takes place on January 31 at 11:00, at the same venue. This is a free event, with donations welcome.

The talk, titled: Saving the Bees and Restoring Our Natural World, will be presented by Marietjie Marais, a passionate and highly respected beekeeper whose previous talks have been warmly received by the community. Marais has more than 10 years’ experience as a beekeeper, runs her own hives and beeswax product range, is a member of the South African Beekeeping Industry Organisation, and serves as secretary and member of the Northerns Beekeeping Association.

Her presentation will focus on caring for bees, protecting pollinators and how small, mindful actions can help restore natural resources and create a healthier environment for future generations.
