OPINION: Bins not emptied in Clansthal, why?
eThekwini Municipality has since advised that waste collection will be carried out by the Parks Maintenance team.
During the festive season, the Clansthal community made a concerted effort to keep the beach clean, taking rubbish to the bins in the Clansthal car park.
On January 2, DSW (Durban Solid Waste) removed the black bags that residents normally bring to the car park on a Friday, but failed to clear their own bins.

If DSW is no longer able to clear their own bins, they should acknowledge their failure and advise the community as to who they should approach to assist in keeping the beaches clean.
If DSW cannot help, who can?
The signs on the bin say that if we work together with DSW, we can keep eThekwini beautiful.
Another photo was taken last week (January 9) after DSW had cleared black bags according to the prescribed Friday morning routine.
Nonetheless, the DSW bins were yet again not cleared. DSW has a strange understanding of togetherness.

RESPONSE:
eThekwini Municipality’s spokesperson Gugu Sisilana responds as follows: The city apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks the Clansthal community for its cooperation and efforts in this regard.
With effect from January 14, waste collection from the bins will be incorporated into the Parks Maintenance Team’s routine schedule to ensure consistent and ongoing waste collection.
