Municipal driver scam does rounds in Umdoni Municipality

According to the municipality, no such jobs have been advertised externally.

A scam is making the rounds in the mid-South Coast area.

As per Umdoni Municipality, scammers are falsely promising employment opportunities as Code 14 drivers within the municipality.

It has been determined that no such positions have been advertised externally by Umdoni.

Umdoni further clarifies that municipal job vacancies are never for sale, and that legitimate recruitment processes are conducted transparently and officially.

“Any person soliciting money in exchange for employment opportunities is acting unlawfully and at their own discretion,” said the municipality.

“Such actions constitute extortion and should be reported immediately to police.”

Also, the public is encouraged not to pay anyone claiming they can secure them a municipal job.
