Xolani Zuke (32) from Emathulini in Mtwalume has been missing since January 1, and his family believes he might have drowned.
His aunt, Zonke Zuke, said her nephew left home on December 31 to visit his father’s family to celebrate the new year, but he did not arrive there, nor did he come back home.
Zuke said she received a call from Xolani’s stepmother at about 16:00 asking about his whereabouts.
“After that call I received another call from his brother telling me that they went swimming at the beach at Esihlonyaneni in Mtwalume, but Xoalani did not come back. I asked them to contact the police and to send me directions to the spot.”
Zuke added police conducted a search, however, at the time the tide was too high.
“We have been searching for him since then. I am seeking help, anyone who can help us find him, so that I can at least have his remains to give him a burial. I have accepted that he is no more, I just want to bury him.”
Zuke said that the disaster team a Umzumbe Municipality has been helping the family.
