Praise for clean up in Marburg and Merlewood
Ray Nkonyeni Municipality and Umbango River Conservancy rolled up their sleeves to assist.
The communities of Marburg and Merlewood have praised Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) and Umbango River Conservancy for a recent clean up campaign.
Residents have been complaining about rubbish in the area, some believed to be from businesses and community members who dump unwanted items and rubble illegally in Marburg.

However, the call by residents to local authorities and the non-governmental organisation to intervene and protect their environment from being destroyed by illegal dumpers was heard.
RNM and the conservancy rolled up their sleeves and helped to clean up the area.
Rubbish which was picked was taken to designated dumping sites.
Residents commended the role-players on a social media group. Marburg Ratepayers’ Association chairperson Fathima Moosa was also praised for being involved in the efforts to clean up and conserve Marburg.
“Well done to the conservancy and the RNM cleaning team that came to assist,” said Moosa.
