Hindus set to observe Thaipoosam Kavady at South Coast temples
Daily rituals and the singing of devotional hymns are held in honour of Lord Muruga.
Thaipoosam Kavady will be observed from this Friday (23rd) till February 1. It falls on the full moon day in the Tamil month Thai (January). The 10-day festival starts with the raising of the flag, daily rituals and the singing of devotional hymns in honour of Lord Muruga.
The carrying of kavady symbolises the carrying of one’s burden and then placing it at the feet of the Lord.
