Talk on birds this Sunday in Southport

This talk will be a perfect outing for families, youngsters and beginners.

Bird lovers, families and nature enthusiasts are invited to take part in the Birding Big Day hosted by the Bendigo Conservancy on Sunday, January 25.

The event begins at 07:30 with a meet-up at the Bendigo Nature Reserve, at B-Cubed Guesthouse/Leka’s, on the corner of the R102 and Hazel Road, Southport.

Bird lovers will spend the early morning hours observing and identifying local birdlife before moving on at 09:00 to the Umzumbe Farmers’ venue.

Late comers are welcome to join at this point.

At 09:30, an introductory talk on birds will be presented, followed by relaxed and easy birding.

The Umzumbe venue is located at the end of Chorley Avenue, off Bendigo Road, Annerley/Southport.

This is a perfect outing for families, youngsters and beginners.

Bring binoculars, a chair, cutlery and crockery, breakfast for early birders, and something to braai for lunch.

Knitted soft toy animals, as well as tea, coffee and scones, will be available for sale on the day.

The cost is R20 per person, with donations towards the Bendigo Conservancy welcomed.
