Speedster fails to evade Park Rynie RTI

The man appeared in court for speeding, reckless driving and running away from traffic police.

The KZN Department of Transport once again commends the Road Traffic Inspectorate team from Park Rynie for arresting yet another reckless motorist.

This came after an investigation that involved analysing footage.

The motorist from a Durban suburb was stopped by the RTI team when he clocked a speed of 204 km/h.

“Realising that he was due to spend time in the cells, he sped away from the scene forgetting his identification document in possession of the no-nonsense RTI team,” said Ndabezinhle Sibiya, spokesperson for the MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma.

“Thanks to the artificial intelligence and cutting edge technology, it enabled RTI to trace his movements to a golf estate on the South Coast.”

It was also noted that the high-resolution imaging and real-time data analytics revealed how he removed the registration number plates from his vehicle; and the analysis further revealed another driver removing the vehicle from the golf estate.

The man was then arrested and appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court for speeding, reckless driving and running away from traffic police.

He was granted R3000 bail and will make his next court appearance with his attorney on February 25.
