Maha Shivratri honours the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The festival falls on the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha, a sacred lunar phase that this year began from 18:00 on February 15 and ended at 06:00 on February 16.

“The auspicious day was marked by fasting, special prayers, dance, songs and reciting from scriptures. Every devotee felt the presence of the divine when Punditji Roy performed the hawan prayer. Various groups rendered bhajans and everyone enjoyed delicious supper followed by snacks, water and cooldrinks throughout the night ensuring everyone was hydrated and well nourished,” said chairperson of the mandir Veena Lakhan.

She thanked all sponsors and devotees who worked tirelessly ensuring that every detail planned was successful.
