Uvongo’s Art-in-the-Park a fabulous affair!

If you missed this one, be sure to diarise March 7.

The first Art-in-the-Park event was a resounding success with super-talented artists from all over the South Coast, and some even from as far as Durban.

The lovely morning spent under the trees provided an ideal opportunity and fabulous new friendships were formed.

Displaying artist Marianna Radley’s (far left) orchid paintings are friends Annie Le Roux, Antionette du Plessis and Lyn Macaskill.

Johann du Toit, the initiator of this event in Uvongo, said the positive and jubilant interaction between the artists and visitors created a relaxing and joyful vibe right through the park.

“Visitors commented favourably on the informal and relaxed atmosphere of the park setting; yet they found that the quality of the paintings on display were like that of a top notch gallery.”

With sales in their pockets and commissions to do, artists are in agreement that the Art-in-the-Park exhibitions should continue on a monthly basis, at the same venue, on every first Saturday of each month – a sentiment shared by the visitors to the event.

This being said, the artists who exhibited (and the new ones who also joined on the day) are already planning and painting for the next one on Saturday, March 7.
