Peace prevails at Maha Shivarathri celebration at temple in Marburg

Over 12 hours of prayer and bhajans were offered throughout the night.

The Shree Raam Narayan Mandir in Marburg observed Maha Shivaratri, the Great Night of Shiva, last Sunday. Over 12 hours of prayer and bhajans were offered throughout the night, creating an atmosphere of divinity, peace, wisdom and strength to all devotees present.

The mandir’s chairperson, Rocky Ramsingh said Lord Shiva is a central figure of the Hindu trinity alongside Brahma (creator), Vishnu (preserver) and Shiva (transformer).

“Transforming represents the cycle of change that keeps the universe in balance as shown by the many symbols he holds that helps us understand his nature and the important role he plays in the universe. Maha Shivarathri celebrated through the night represents pure awareness beyond sleep and darkness, giving devotees the opportunity to connect to the divine within us.”

The management acknowledges with gratitude the contributions of Punditji Piyush Misra, sponsors, musicians and all members for making the celebration a night full of devotion, love, inner strength and peace.
