Shelly Beach pub shooter back in court next month
Darren Govender is an assistant superintendent law enforcement officer at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.
Law enforcement officer Darren Govender is expected to be back in court on March 31.
It’s been more than a year since Govender handed himself over to police after the fatal shooting of businessman Brad Hughes (54) at a pub in Shelly Beach on February 12, 2025.
Govender is an assistant superintendent law enforcement officer at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.
He pleaded not guilty to a schedule six charge of premeditated murder; assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and reckless use of a firearm in public.
He is currently out on bail of R15 000 and is back at work.
