Speedster sentenced in Scottburgh

The motorist was arrested by Park Rynie RTI for driving 172km/h in a 120km/h zone.

The Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court recently handed a R30 000 fine or eight months’ prison sentence to Musa Trevor Mnguni for speeding.

He was arrested in December by Park Rynie RTI for driving 172 km/h in a 120 km/h zone in the mid-South Coast area.

In addition to his sentence, Mnguni’s driver’s licence was suspended as per the execution of RTI’s #NenzaniLaEzweni Operation.

The KZN Department of Transport has stated that through this driver’s licence suspension, it hopes to get a clear message across to all motorists that a driver’s licence is a legally granted privilege and not a constitutional right.

The department applauds the Park Rynie team, as well as the court for its professionalism and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development for managing cases effectively.
