Call for action, solutions against illegal coastal development
Focus was on illegal developments and encroachments along the Umgababa/Mnini coastline.
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment’s deputy minister, Narend Singh, led a recent engagement with relevant stakeholders to tackle illegal coastal matters.
This meeting included Inkosi Luthuli; the Mnini Traditional Council; KZN Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, eThekwini Municipality, Saps and others.
Focus was on illegal developments and encroachments along the Umgababa/Mnini coastline.
The deputy minister outlined the key issues, the danger to lives and property, and the harm caused to the environment, as partners work towards practical solutions on the ground.
