Family fun set for Granny’s Pool in Port Edward

The great thing about this Easter Pebble Hunt is that it's about fun, family participation, some fun facts, a light, affordable snack, and exciting raffles for the moms and dads

Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy’s (UMC) annual Beach Pebble Treasure Hunt and Family Day will bring fun and joy to children and parents alike when Port Edward’s Granny’s Pool beach becomes the venue for a lovely family morning this Saturday (4th).

Forty numbered pebbles will be hidden on the beach for lucky children to discover, 10 of which are tied to a prize!

Amoray Swart holds some of the pebbles that will be hidden for the UMC Beach Pebble Treasure Hunt.

Helen Ueckermann, UMC vice-chairperson, said that before the hunt begins, there will be a short environmental awareness talk about butterflies and bees. Proceeds of the day will go to nature conservation.

“Carry your pebble from the beach along the secret path through the indigenous forest which will take you to the enchanted garden where there will be chicken burgers and cold water for sale. The winning pebble numbers, and the winners of the mom and dad raffles will be announced,” says Ueckermann.

Dads are in line for a R500 voucher, and the moms for a hamper full of surprises, from wine to chocolates, to a spa visit and more.

Lastly, Ueckermann expresses UMC’s sincere gratitude to the day’s sponsors.
