Street name markers project launched in Pennington

The plan is to have clean and tidy concrete street name markers for a neat and uniform look to the roads.

Tidy Towns Pennington is on a mission to neaten and refresh the concrete street name markers across the town, to ensure that every road looks clean, clear and cared for.

Viv Sandwith from Tidy Towns stated that this project has been on the cards for a long time, and a pilot project has now been launched in Pennington Drive.

“We did an audit of all the street names on Pennington Drive. We then ordered concrete bollards to replace broken ones, and had new name plates printed so that all the signs look uniform,” she explained.

This is what the new concrete street name markers will look like.

“We contracted the Pennington casual workers to scrub the old signs, give them a sparkling new coat of paint, and we have started to apply the new name plates.
We also asked them to scrub the name plates on street poles!”

The overall plan is to have clean and tidy concrete street name markers for a neat and uniform look to the roads.

With help from individual streets via Pennington’s Street Groups, Tidy Towns hopes the entire community will soon have streets everyone can be proud of!
