Scottburgh’s bigger and better ocean festival to make waves soon

A three-day programme line-up has something for everyone.

The countdown is on for the fourth and highly-anticipated Ocean Festival which will return to Scottburgh from May 1 to 3.

With the event taking place over a long weekend, organisers are able to expand the programme of oceanside events to celebrate World Ocean Day.

“Following the incredible success of last year’s festival, we’re proud to be expanding the programme with a bigger line-up and more diverse experience,” said Barry Lewin, event organiser.

“There will be even more opportunities for the public to engage with the ocean while remaining true to our pillars of conservation engagement, education and economics.”

The public can expect an exciting combination of sport, wellness, education and entertainment, designed to connect people with the ocean while supporting conservation and coastal community initiatives.

The Ocean Festival continues to align with the World Ocean Day mission by focusing on three key pillars – engagement, education and economics.

In terms of engagement – this allows everyone to create memorable experiences that connect one another to the ocean through sport, wellness and adventure.

The education aspect comes in to play through the event hosting talks and activations that raise awareness about ocean conservation and sustainability.

And for economics, supporting local tourism and businesses by attracting visitors to the South Coast during the winter season.

“Ocean Festival is about celebrating the ocean in all its forms, from exciting water-based competition to quiet moments of reflection and learning. We invite everyone to join us in Scottburgh this May to be part of something truly special,” added Lewin.
