Join snare sweep drive inland of Umtentweni

A reminder that even a few hours of collective effort can make a meaningful difference.

Join volunteers of the South Coast Anti-Snaring group as they meet on a farm, inland of Tweni on April 25, to protect the coast’s local wildlife.

The meet up is at 10:00 for a 10:15 start at the cane loading zone before setting off along the farm’s trails. The plan is to move through the surrounding bush, carefully checking for and removing any snares or harmful setups that could pose a danger to animals.

The route is considered easy.

What to bring?

Backpack, refreshments, snacks, long pants (as there are generally a few thorns), Tekkies or hiking boots, a bush knife if you have one, side cutters or pliers.

Safety measures will be in place, with first aid kits and radios available for volunteers throughout the morning. Volunteers are encouraged to confirm their attendance, with location details to be shared via pin drop ahead of the event.

Contact Craig Saunders (the founder of the group) on 072 2587907.
