Spiritual gathering uplifts at Marburg temple
The Akhand Hanuman Chalisa recital stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith, unity, and selfless service.
The Shree Raam Narayan Temple in Marburg came alive with devotion and unity at the Akhand recital of the Hanuman Chalisa on April. Organised in collaboration with the Hibiscus Navarathri Committee, the event brought together devotees from near and far for a powerful 12-hour spiritual gathering.
The Akhand (unbroken) recital, a continuous chanting of the sacred 40-verse hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman, is traditionally performed to invoke divine protection, enhance mental clarity, and cultivate inner peace. From the early hours of the morning until late evening, devotees resonated with rhythmic chants, creating an atmosphere of serenity and devotion.
The programme featured a diverse lineup of groups who participated in hourly recitation sessions throughout the day. Attendees included local organisations as well as visiting groups from Durban and surrounding areas.
By the close of the event, devotees expressed a sense of renewal, leaving the temple recharged and spiritually invigorated. The executive members and organising committee thank local businesses and individuals who contributed in cash and kind.
“We are overwhelmed by the positive response from all the groups who accepted our invitation to be a part of this sacred occasion. Most importantly, we are blessed with a dedicated working team who came together in true community spirit, ensuring every aspect of the event was carried out with perfection and love,” said vice-chairperson Shamin Maharaj.
“Events like these offer not only cultural enrichment, but also a pathway for individuals to find peace, strength, and comfort through divine connection,” said Shamin.
