This is according to Ward 16 councillor John Williams, who said work on the bridge will commence shortly.

“The Umzimkhulu River Bridge contractor has at last been paid in full. Work will commence shortly on the bridge,” said Williams.

However, he noted that the situation regarding the R102 (P3-1) remains unresolved.

Williams said negotiations between the Department of Transport and Jamjo Civils are ongoing and that the matter is still at a standstill.

“I will keep you informed when there are changes,” he said.
