Swift response and action helped control a fire in Scottburgh on Sunday evening (June 14).
After a power dip throughout the town, it was discovered that a transformer between the Scottburgh police station and court had exploded and caught alight.
Gladiator Fire, supported by Umdoni Fire, were dispatched immediately, and on arrival also noticed that oil had leaked from the transformer.
In no time at all, the fire was extinguished.
Umdoni Fire thereafter remained on standby to monitor the situation, and Eskom technicians arrived at the site to complete safety checks.
There were no injuries from the fire, but it did result in the police station, court and residents nearby being left without electricity for quite a while.
