Clean-up removes 55 bags of refuse from Uvongo wetlands

The CPF thanked every resident who volunteered their time and effort.

Residents, together with the Uvongo Community Police Forum (CPF), recently joined forces to reclaim the wetlands at the corner of Edward Avenue and Henry Avenue in Uvongo from neglect and potential criminal activity.

Working together, volunteers collected 55 bags of refuse from the thick overgrown bush in just one hour.

According to the CPF (Community in Blue), the initiative was about more than simply cleaning up the environment as overgrown, littered areas are often used by criminals as hiding places, escape routes and locations to conceal stolen property.

“By clearing this trash, we have eliminated these blind spots. High visibility is one of our strongest deterrents against crime,” the CPF said.

The CPF thanked every resident who volunteered their time and effort.
