The second Run4Ramsgate once again welcomed runners, walkers and supporters from across the South Coast, as well as holidaymakers, for a fantastic morning of fitness, fun and fundraising on July 11.

Hosted by the Ramsgate Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association (RRRA) at the Ramsgate Tidal Pool parking, the event formed part of the association’s ongoing fundraising efforts to help maintain and improve the Ramsgate Village.

Registration opened at 8.30am, with the 5km run starting at 09.30. Just 21 minutes later, Ntokozo Gambushe was the first runner home, followed by Alexander Southwood and Thabanga Molope. Victoria Forshaw was the first female finisher in an impressive 28 minutes, with Bianca Miller and Megan Wright close behind.

The rain arrived just as the last runners were crossing the finish line, but that didn’t dampen the atmosphere. Runners and spectators squeezed beneath the main gazebo for a rushed, but lively prize-giving, with prizes awarded to the first, second and third runners’ home, the youngest boy and girl, lucky spot prize winners and even four-legged friends, all thanks to the generous prizes donated by Spar Ramsgate. The atmosphere was kept alive by local musician Ricky Zuma, who freely gave of his time and talent.

“Our sincere thanks also go to our wonderful volunteers, including the many marshals along the route. South Coast Tourism helped cover the halfway turning point, the Lions Club marshalled the Ski Boat Bay area. Whether you came to run, walk or enjoy the morning, you helped make Run4Ramsgate 2026 another wonderful community event while raising funds for the ongoing improvement of Ramsgate Village. Thanks to every sponsor, volunteer, participant and supporter who made the day possible. We look forward to welcoming you all back in 2027,” said RRRA’s committee member, Sarah Unsworth.
