Bookings can be made via WhatsApp on 076-078-7189.

Nature lovers can discover one of the South Coast’s natural treasures when WESSA Southern KZN hosts a guided walk through the Trafalgar Marine Protected Area on August 1 at 10:00.

The event marks Marine Protected Areas Day and will be led by geologist Paddy Norman and marine biologist Paul Fleischack, who will share their knowledge of the area’s unique geology, marine ecosystems and conservation importance.

Come learn why Trafalgar was proclaimed a Marine Protected Area, including protection of its internationally significant 90-million-year-old fossil beds and ancient petrified cretaceous trees exposed in the intertidal zone.

The walk will also explore the area’s rich marine life, rocky shore habitats, tidal pools, algae beds and coastal birdlife.

The guided walk is suitable for anyone interested in geology, marine biodiversity or conservation and offers a chance to learn more about one of South Africa’s most important protected coastal environments.

Explorers are advised to bring a hat, water or refreshments, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes with good grip.

Bookings can be made via WhatsApp on 076-078-7189.
