Sightings reported as search for missing Sylvia continues
Sylvia Smith’s daughter, Talitha, is urging the public not to rely on a name alone when trying to identify her missing mother.
Numerous reports of possible sightings of missing South Coast mother Sylvia Smith in and around Margate and Manaba have surfaced since the South Coast Herald published an article recently about her disappearance.

However, Sylvia’s daughter, Talitha, is urging members of the public to look carefully at her mother’s distinguishing features and, where possible, obtain photographs to help the family establish whether the woman seen is indeed Sylvia.
Sylvia, also known as Sylvi, has piercing blue eyes, shoulder-length wavy hair, a visible scar on her right hand and another on her right ankle, as well as a chipped front tooth.

Her daughter, Talitha has appealed to anyone who believes they have seen her mother not to rely solely on the name a person gives them.
“If you see her again, please don’t rely on a name. Just ask nicely if you can look at the inside of both her hands. No person on the streets gives their correct name,” she said.
“If there is a scar, ask nicely to take a photo. I actually wonder how many times Mom has been found and it is written off as not her by folks who do not understand.”

Talitha stressed that the family is deeply grateful to everyone who has taken the time to report possible sightings and assist in the search.
“We are all extremely grateful to people helping. Without them we will not find Mom, but the decision as to whether it is or isn’t Mom is not up to them,” she said.
“I pray to God daily to send people who can understand this.”
The family is asking the public to remain vigilant and to share any credible information or photographs that could help establish Sylvia’s whereabouts.
Anyone who believes they have seen Sylvia is urged to contact the family or the relevant authorities with information that could assist in the search.
