Marsec wins Rotary’s team talk competition

Participants received a certificate of achievement.

Forty years ago the Rotary Club introduced a team speaking competition for learners in schools.

The Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast with the support of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education hosted the team talk competition at Hoërskool Suid-Natal last Tuesday.

Participating schools were Gamalakhe Commercial High, Marburg Secondary, Mcushwa High, Port Shepstone Secondary, Southcity Christian College and Hoërskool Suid-Natal.

Each school was invited to enter learners from Grades 10 to 12.

Learners had to select a topic of their choice, research the topic and present it as a team. They also had to present a problem and collectively suggest a solution to that problem.

Each team had 12 minutes to complete the task.

Marburg Secondary was the overall winner and Sibonginkosi Mbili, also from Marburg won the best speaker.

Sibonginkosi Mbili of Marburg Secondary was the best speaker, with Leeann Abraham (educator).

All participants received a certificate of achievement from Rotary.
The best speaker received a voucher donated by Ramsgate Stationers, runners-up also received vouchers from Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast.
The top team received vouchers and a floating trophy from Rotary.
