Green fingers abound at Megan du Plessis

The learners are showing their appreciation for the environment.

In a heart-warming display of nature’s wonders, two young students Liyema Fikeni and Sikuyo Nonginga of Megan du Plessis Special Needs Centre are beaming with pride as they celebrate the flourishing growth of their vegetable garden.

The once-barren patch of soil has been transformed into a thriving oasis of green, and the children’s enthusiasm for their budding garden is contagious.

Their vegetable patch now boasts a variety of crops, including plump tomatoes, bell peppers, swiss chard and spinach. They will soon pluck the fruits of their labour with delight. They have not only nurtured the garden, but also their appreciation for the environment and the food they grow.

Their teacher emphasised the educational value of the project. This experience has taught the students about responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of sustainable living. The school added that it is wonderful to see them so engaged and appreciative of the growth they’ve witnessed.

The thriving veggie patch at centre is a testament to the wonder of nature and the valuable lessons it can offer young minds.
