Southcity brings joy at community centre

Learners engaged with young children.

Southcity Christian Schools’ Grade 6 learners embarked on an outreach and leadership excursion to Khula Community Centre in Oribi Gorge last week.

They were divided into five groups, each prepared an activity for those aged two and three, including song and dance, games, arts and crafts, a puppet show and biscuit decorating.

Learners led these activities with enthusiasm, engaging with the young children in a meaningful and heartfelt way.

This experience not only brought joy to the children at the centre but also gave the learners a powerful perspective on privilege and the impact they can have in underprivileged communities.

The excursion was a memorable and rewarding experience, with many reluctant to return to school after their day of fun and service.
